Fortified Church in Cisnadioara, Sibiu, is one of the most representative monuments of Romanesque style in Romania. Being situated on top of the hill with the same name, Evangelical Church St. Michael has been attested in the year 1223. Plateau around the church is surrounded by a circular fortification, one of the oldest Transylvanian peasant fortresses.
Built of stone, the church consists of nave, two lateral naves, choir, central apse and two side apses. Originally basilica was designed with two towers located on the west side above the ship but have not been completed before.
Pick church was later built on the west, a portal framed with Romanesque arches that some should take the whole face but, like the towers were never completed.
